Oh, he looks “JUST LIKE YOU”

I had fun reading this. Lol!

The Ugly Volvo

When the baby was only a month or so old everyone kept saying, “Oh wow, he looks like your husband.  He looks so much like your husband!”  And now he is six months old and at a family gathering the other day I had at least 10 people say that he looked exactly like me.

And here is the thing:  No.  He doesn’t.  He doesn’t look exactly like me because I am not a small, fat, round-headed baby.  At one month he did not look “so much” like my husband because my husband is not a tiny, shriveled alien-like creature with no hair who constantly cries.   I cannot even stress how much he didn’t look like my husband.  If the baby had committed a crime at that age (let’s say he robbed some old women) and was brought into the police station for a lineup next to a bunch of…

72-year Old Grandpa Models Women’s Clothes, Becomes Internet Sensation

Liu Xianping, a 72-year-old Chinese man has become something of an internet sensation after he began modelling for his granddaughter’s online clothing store. Liu Xianping’s granddaughter is one of five recent college grads who created Yuekou, a female fashion store.
It all started when one day her grandpa Liu came to help with unpacking: “He picked up one piece and tried to give some advice on how to mix and match. We thought it was fun so we started shooting.” Xianping’s photos made it to the store’s website shortly after. The pictures have since gone viral, and online sales are booming. Since his modeling debut, online sales have increased fivefold.
When asked, what he thinks about his amusing stunt, Liu Xianping replied:
Why unacceptable for someone like me to wear women’s clothes? Modelling for the store is helping my granddaughter and I have nothing to lose. We were very happy on the day of the shooting. I’m very old and all that I care about is to be happy.

Angels’ Blood (Guild Hunter #1)

Angels’ Blood (Guild Hunter #1)

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she is the best- but she does not know if even she is good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, Elena knows failure is not an option—even if the task is impossible.

Because this time, it’s not a wayward vamp she has to track. It’s an archangel gone bad.

The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other—and pull her to the razor’s edge of passion. Even if the hunt does not destroy her, succumbing to Raphael’s seductive touch just might. For when archangels play, mortals break.

Who knew angels can be hot as hell? In this series they’re even hotter than the vampires. Lol! I really, really love Nalini Singh! She’s a master! For a first novel in a series, this is way too good! I usually have this impression that first novels are the weakest. But I can’t think of this as a weak novel. This is worth 5 stars on my list. Definitely one of my favorite stories of all time.
I loved the characters! I first met Elena in the novella Angel’s Judgment and even then I already loved her. She’s the best vampire hunter the Guild has. And in this novel she’s strong, loyal, energetic, passionate and honorable. She’s exciting and she doesn’t cower in fear, even when she’s really scared deep inside. Definitely my kind of heroine.
I have to admit I didn’t like Raphael at first. But I figured it was his boredom and cynicism talking. And as the story progresses, I can’t help but warm to him eventually.
The other characters are also great. I loved Sara and Ransom. They’re so cool and they made me crack on some scenes. Dmitri and Jason are still enigmatic and Ilium is as charming as ever (they were featured in the novella Angel’s Dance).
The story was dark. And the plot was a bit darker than Ms. Singh’s usual story, but still as enjoyable. I just wished there were more fight scenes for Ellie. She’s the guild’s best hunter and I wanted to read more about her in action.
The romance was great. Great chemistry between Ellie and Raphael. I loved it that Elena doesn’t lose control much even when facing the archangel. I had fun reading about Raphael’s small changes as he get to know Elena.
I love the ending. It was very sweet and romantic. There’s a scene in the last chapter that made me go, ‘awwwww’. That was a very sweet scene I feel like I just wanna kiss Raphael. Lol!

Where the Namib Desert meets the Sea

The Southern Namib desert is home to some of the tallest and most spectacular dunes of the world, ranging in color from pink to vivid orange. These dunes continue right to the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The cold waters of the sea brushing against the dunes of the Namib desert is one of the most surreal sights.
While the sea coast extends for hundreds of miles, one of the best places to see these dunes is at Swakopmund. Known as Swakop in Namibia, it is the country’s biggest coastal town and a mecca for Namibians on holiday. The city’s German origins are quite pronounced in beautiful old German Colonial buildings throughout the city, making an even starker contrast for this town sitting at the edge of the Namib Desert.
From here, helicopter ride is available that flies you around the Skeleton Coast and the Namib desert in general.

Yuk-Ming Dennis Lo developed a non-invasive prenatal diagnosis method for detecting Down syndrome using maternal blood plasma.

in 2011, In 1997, Dr. Lo and his co-workers reported the presence of cell-free fetal DNA in the plasma of pregnant women. This discovery challenged the conventional wisdom regarding the role of the placenta as a barrier between the fetal and maternal circulations. The finding of circulating fetal DNA in maternal blood has also opened up new possibilities for noninvasive prenatal diagnosis. Over the past 15 years, the award-winning professor has elucidated the fundamental biological characteristics regarding circulating fetal DNA, including its concentrations, gestational variations, length distributions, and clearance patterns. Dr. Lo has demonstrated the use of such fetal-derived molecules for the prenatal diagnosis of sex-linked diseases, blood group genotyping, and a variety of monogenic disorders. To develop a noninvasive test for Down syndrome, Dr. Lo and his team developed an approach based on molecular counting and showed that massive parallel sequencing is an efficient method for detecting fetal chromosomal aneuploidies. In 2011, Dr. Lo and his team published the first large-scale validation of this sequencing-based technology for Down syndrome detection, with confirmations by numerous groups since then. This technology was quickly introduced into clinical practice.

I’m trying to read the series in chronological order so I’m not reading Angel’s Wolf yet. I’m just gonna update this later.

Angel’s Dance (Guild Hunter #0.1)

This is the first story I’ve read in the series. I’m trying to read it in chronological order; not by the order of the book release.
Angel’s Dance is a warm and sweet read for me. Even though it’s just a novella, I didn’t find it lacking unlike some novellas i’ve read before. It’s a feel good love story devoid of the ugly twists and evil antagonists found in full length novels. Just plain and simple romance. I love how the story introduced the characters. Ms Singh made them intriguing enough for new readers like me to want to read the future books(i’m sure they’ll have their own stories).
Of all my favorite authors, Ms Nalini Singh is the only one who makes me wish I live in her created worlds. First, the psy-changeling world and now, her angel-vampire world. I’m looking forward to reading the next books of the series.
My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Angel’s Judgement (Guild Hunter #0.2)

Woohoo! Talking about one hot sexy romance. I love this story! I’m gonna give it 5 stars just for the steamy sexual tension alone. I love the instant chemistry Sarah and Deacon had. Ms Singh sure knows how to write about sex without sex. Lol!
No weak, sweet girl here. My gorgeous Sarah kicks ass!And Deacon…*drools* there goes my newest dreamguy.
I love the fast pace of the story. Since this is just a short story, all the words should count. And Ms. Singh did a very excellent job. This is another novella that feels like a full-length novel. I’m really impressed by how the author can write such short novels without compromising the story. This was solid and fun. I enjoyed reading this very much.
I haven’t started the full-length novels in this series yet. But now I’m so excited to read all of them because of these sizzling hot novellas.
My Rating: 5 stars out of 5

Angel’s Pawn (Guild Hunter #0.5)

I don’t have much to say about Angel’s Pawn. I liked it but I didn’t love it. Maybe I was expecting they’d have a definite stand with each other in the end. It was open-ended so maybe I have to check the other books for progress.
Anyways, I enjoyed it. I like Ashwini. But I didn’t get to know her well. She had so many secrets until the end. I love Janvier. What’s there not to love? He’s funny, smart, strong, and gorgeous. Their love hate relationship is kinda fun, too. The chemistry is undeniable when they’re together so I was expecting for more sexy scenes.
I liked the plot. It was interesting and intriguing. So overall, this was a good novella. But I liked the first two better.
My Rating: 3.8 stars out of 5

Wearing super-skinny jeans and pairing it with ultra-high heels increases the chances of developing Meralgia paresthetica.
Meralgia paresthetica is an entrapment or “pinching” of the nerve that supplies sensation to the outer portion of the thigh. The lateral femoral cutaneous nerve becomes “entrapped” as it passes under the ligament of the groin. The pressure on the nerve causes abnormal sensations of burning, pain, and numbness in the distribution of this nerve, the outer and part of the front of the thigh.
Meralgia paresthetica is also known as lateral femoral cutaneous nerve syndrome.

Baby Elephant Cries For 5 Hours After Mother Tried To Kill Him

An inconsolable baby elephant sobbed for five hours after he was rejected by his violent mother. The adorable newborn, called Zhuangzhuang, wept uncontrollably when he was separated from his mother for his safety by zookeepers after she tried to stomp him to death. Little Zhuangzhuang was inconsolable. Zoo officials hoped it was an accident when she initially stepped on him after he was born at a wildlife park. But after they treated his injuries and returned him to her two hours later, they were horrified to witness her attack him again. Rejected by his mother and taken away, the traumatised little elephant heartbreakingly cried for hours, and refused to be comforted by staff. Zhuangzhuang wept uncontrollably when he was separated from his mother
A zoo keeper explained to CEN: “The calf was very upset and he was crying for five hours before he could be consoled. “He couldn’t bear to be parted from his mother and it was his mother who was trying to kill him. ”
Thankfully, Zhuangzhuang has now been adopted by the keeper who saved him at the Shendiaoshan wild animal reserve in Rong-cheng, China. “They have made a good bond,” said a spokesman for the zoo. “We don’t know why the mother turned on her calf but we couldn’t take a chance. ”
Infanticide can be attributed to stress causing factors like overcrowding and captivity which can interfere with animals’ protective instincts towards their young.
